Yes, I got that - I read the book, and enjoyed it. :)

Dear All,
Something I've been reflecting and writing on is Christopher Alexander's "A
timeless way of building"...
Here's a little clip from it and the 5th we're talking about... ;)

And it's not just the Scrum community. As some of you may know, it's
actually part of a wider community, the Agile Software Development
community, which was born by the declaration of the Agile Manifesto:

Friends,
In the spirit of Jack's question and after having just channeled Fr. Brian's
frighteningly delicious curmudgeonliness (is that a whurd???), I'm reminded
that you can have a fifth (or sixth or seventh or eighth...) principle (as
many as you can shake a set of tibetan temple bells at) but l
Lovely inquiry.
What about four principles, one law, and an invitation.

I agree that ³Be prepared to be surprised² is not a principle, but is an
important part for me. Two feet is clearly a law. The principles are exactly
that. Is BP2BS a guideline? (And did I just give it a nasty txtspk acronym?
Apologies.)
Trying to imagine how one might say it:

Hi all--
Is not surprise another name for emergence, that is, self-organization?
If so, it is pretty central to OS.

Thank you for introducing me to Open Space. I was at the "SCRUM" Techie

A paradigm shift took place. A transformation beyond words.I am extremely
grateful.
Blessings to All,

Wonderful that we're talking about OST in the tech community, and I'm

Thank you so much Harold,
Agree there's lots happening in the tech world. The link you sent was
a thank you note I had forwarded to Tobias Mayer of Scrum and he
posted it on his blog. The photos I tried to attached didn't work so
here's a link to them for those interested. Suzanne

There is indeed a lot going on in the "tech" world. I quote "tech"
because a lot of what's going on is *in* the tech world but more about
process and organization.
The Scrum Gathering is an excellent example. Scrum is used primarily
in the software development world, but is hardly limited
As I recall what has happened all along on my OS journey, the "Be prepared
to be surprised" has been the emergent reality of "Here and Now" regardless
of outcome: an collective & integral possibility to be explored and
realized.
Thus I would recommend it stands out among what might be expected in
