Isn’t it interesting. The same patterns appeared in Tiananmen Square, Tahrir Square… I rather suspect that it has nothing to do with “doing” open Space – but rather a confirmation that open space is a very natural (the?) natural way of being – when people share a common issue, possessing great complexity, multiple viewpoints (diversity), great passion and potential for conflict – and there is a real sense of urgency. Given those conditions it seems like folks must naturally form in circles, create bulletin boards, open the market place (of ideas) – and go to work. Nobody forces them. They just come. Guess it is the 5th Principle (Wherever it happens is the right place) in operation. J

As far as I can make out the process at Place de la République is Open Space - groups in circles on the ground, timings of sessions written up on cardboard signs with name of the subject. People are using the non-verbal code for agreeing/disagreeing etc. as the noise level makes it hard to hear anyone if you are standing up and not in the bigger circles. Anyone can organize, mobilize a group to action apparently - no obvious leaders or facilitators. Anybody here on this list living in Paris, I'm curious what process overview and details the organizers are using?
