Thanks Doug!
Of course, if there are any other (lesser known) case studies out there of
working with planning and design of new buildings and/or urban areas, it would
be great to hear about them! :)

Hi all,
I seem to remember an example of using Open Space to design something big...
was it a football stadium? I cannot remember, but it seemed like a powerful
case study and I was thinking it might come in handy soon. Could someone point
me in the right direction?
Many thanks!

Speaking of schools of thought. Just a few days ago, I finally put some (long,
rambling, hard to follow!) thoughts down on paper about this (I'm sure covering
only a few of the different thoughts/schools within this OS community):

I absolutely agree with you Deborah. Effectively, one of the classical
preconditions of Open Space is not satisfied, and that will lead to a very
different type of gathering. If there is no pressing issue, then there must be
some other motivator for people showing up. So maybe (daring thought, I

Hi Michael,
To me Open Space contains within it many polarities and tensions. One is that

Having now as someone aptly put it 'lost my OST virginity', I wanted to pay my
respects to the people mainly responsible for getting me here. All the great
people at boscop worked very hard to set up what was an unforgettable learning
experience. They brought together a wonderful group of people

On the subject of my writing.. When it rains, it pours.. I didn't want to
clutter the previous post with too much reflection and interpretation. [If you
didn't read the previous post, you need to, or you might not know where this is

Hello to you all,
Two weeks ago I found myself holding space in Mojmirovce, Slovakia, for the
second Global Gathering of the Change Facilitation Associates Network (CFAN,
www.change-facilitation.org). This was the first Open Space event I have
facilitated, and it wasn't on the agenda 24hrs befo
I'd like to reinforce this message. If I might, here is my example, part of my
story.
Earlier this year I had experience of something informed by Open Space. There
was a change programme in a company I was working with that brought its
practitioners together one afternoon, for 'something.' It
