talking piece (which I happened to have been offered by a woman friend a
long time ago). I choose talking objects to match the group. For me, they
don't have to be a stick. The egg was lovely, it got warmer and warmer as it
My personal feeling is that there is no right way to hold the stick. It is
not a ritual talking stick, it was a gift to the community passed through
those who were convening gatherings to use it and then pass it along.
There is a role for the talking stick as a form but many uses in practice.
