for our leading adult literacy organisation. The 50 or so people attending
are policy makers from various fields. The focus is on literacy and young
people. Several young people will be attending (say 2-3).

opening remarks rather than making sure myself as the facilitator
"that the voice of the young are heard". (As if a facilitator could
actually do that).

I suggest that some special attention be given to the youth before the event.
Explain the process to them and elicit questions, concerns, etc. to alleviate
their apprehension. Emphasize to them that their voice is important and

AND if they think that they are really there to be full
participants. check the circumstances of their coming,
self-selection, understanding and connection to the issu
