Hi all, it has been a while since I was on this list and. I find that it is as
full of life as ever before, great!

Dear Christine, how I wish I could join you but this year it is impossible. I
know this will be a wonderful opportunity for all those participating to find
the way to manifest all they wish from life.
Best wishes to you, and to Tova and Peggy.

Harrison, I agree very much with what you say. OST is a holistic approach for
the work ahead. It is also built on other values than those that are common in
most of todays business paradigm. So when we try to fit it into the standards
of traditional evaluation tools we really diminish the effect
Forgot to mention that the solution we have can be used for up to 100 people in
the circle.

Hi Anna Christine as I mentioned in my first answer to you, one system is Open
Space-online created by Gaby Ender. This is in writing but a real time meeting
solution. Another system is Collaborative ways which is facilitated short OST
sessions combined with written reflections.
Best regards

Hi Patricio, it is a great task you have undertaken. I am very interested to
see the results. One thing struck me, your first question: are individuals able
to self-organize when subjected to an unstructured context?
I think this question could be formulated different, because OST is a highly

Dear Hege, I am smiling when I read your mail. When is the church not in

has worked in the church most of her life and is now working with youth in a
small parish in southern Sweden. You can find her through the GC li
Hi Chris would love to join you but it is just a little too far away. I know
that when you use the outdoor space and outdoor pedagogy it creates amazing
learning and also wonderful healing. We have so much research on this in Sweden
and I just hope more people find out about the impact of the "r
Hi Cecilia, the story Harrison tells us is wonderful and not just about the
magic of OST but we can also learn from what he did. Be very practical, be very
short and get the space open and handed over to the participants as soon as
possible. And take the power during the opening so you dont allo
Hi Paul, my colleague Richard Schultz and I are often using Blackboard for OST
meetings. We have designed the space for such meetings and use it together with
a learning management system. So far our participants find that it is very
close to in-person OST. You can read more on www.collaborative
By the way, there is a free download of our little book on online collaboration
on the website www.collaborativeways.com. it is based on some of my research
about online work and communication.

Dear Chris I agree about all you said, especially about the givens. I would
even dare to say that the prework and the discussion there is what opens the
space. What I do at the beginning of an OST meeting is ritual, also important
but still ritual.
Thanks for your story.

Harrison, you are most welcome. And most of the differences between our
perspectives could very well be a difference of culture and language.
Have a great weekend

Hi Gray my experience from having facilitated quite a number of small OST
meetings as well as large ones is that sometimes people want to stay together
through all topics. One time they changed the whole agenda and since it is
their meeting, they are free to do so. The only advice I give them is
Forgot to mention that at that meeting when the group rearranged the whole
agenda, I was in th background holding on to the manager's arm assuring her
that all was fine. To her big surprise this was the first time in a year that
this group worked together as a group.

Hi Agustin, I have thougth about your question because I sometimes end up in
that discussion with clients. I deeply agree with Lisa, that it takes many
considerations and one of them is whose priority? Who has the need to add
things such as seminars, will it support the people in the meeting and
Hi Evan, I never print reports because I use flipcharts for the reports in the
meeting, then take pictures and put them into a document that is sent out by
email. The flipcharts are big enough for people to read on the wall, even with
a big crowd of people. Another thing with flipcharts, they ta
Hi all, I was one of the organizers of the OsonOs in 2003 in Odense, Denmark.
The best open space that I remember was not possible to catch in a picture.
That was one evening around the campfire when Mikk Sarv played his flute in the
night. He also played one of his own compositions in the barn,

Congratulations. There is only one way to learn how to swim and that is to get
into the water. Since you are working inside your own organization, be sure to
get yourself enough space to keep the integrity of the process. My experience
