I just did the same thing ;-) Only because my tablet has so poor GPS,
that I could not stand it.
So I have an old Garmin 10 unit. A blutooth gps receiver.
Switch on the BT, pair the two devices.
Install 'Blutooh GPS' application.
Go to Android settings, developer options and allow 'mock g

not know the details of map creation, is that in the map when there is a
intersection, one must tag somehow the 'main' road. If you then drive on
this 'main' road only, no turn instructions are provided.

Ah! Thanks, Tom. I don't know if something changed (perhaps only in my
brain...) but for some reason I was expecting to see them higher up in the
menu hierarchy.
