Hi,
Can somebody please tell me how to adjust the max_allowed_packet
setting please for MySQL, it is currently set to 0MB and I need to
change it to 8MB

use your my.cnf file that should be in /etc and put the line
max_allowed_packet=20M
in [mysqld] section.
Then restart mysql
