are your local resolvers forwarding to 8.8.8.8? I tried a small sample of public resolvers and only the google once failed. Maybe DNSSEC? (looks like the NIST signature rotated yesterday) 1.1.1.1 gm.nist.gov. netops.nist.gov. 2889174 10800 1080 2419200 300 8.8.8.8 failed 8.8.4.4 failed 75.75.

Verizon here in NYC (Brooklyn) and no issues not sure if its related - there was supposedly work being done last night in a Verizon CO in queens to resolve a overutilization / oversubscribed issue they have been experiencing (Windstream advised us for a circuit thats been have intermittent issue)
