*Major Purpose of Job:*

The Senior Systems Analyst (SSA) is the member of the software development
team with primary responsibility for translating business/user requirements
into system/software requirements specifications and other systems analysis
products.  The SSA may lead a team of System Analysts and other development
team staff.  The SSA serves as the primary requirements liaison between the
software development team and the product management team and the user
community.

*Essential Job Functions:*

   - Coordinate the activities of a team of other System Analysts and other
   software development team staff.
   - Tailor standard organizational requirements management processes and
   practices to meet the needs of a specific project.  Develop a requirements
   management plan documenting the approach.
   - Analyze business and user requirements for clarity, completeness,
   scope, and technical feasibility. Decompose business and user requirements
   into system and software functional requirements. Define system quality and
   operational attributes, external interfaces, constraints, rules, and other
   non-functional requirements.
   - Perform requirements modeling and develop analysis diagrams which
   depict various perspectives of the system’s structure and behavior, to
   include, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, state diagrams, data models,
   and use-case realizations.
   - Develop software requirements specifications that capture the software
   requirements for the complete system and serve as the “build-to”
   specification for development.
   - Serve as primary liaison between the technical team and the product
   team and end-users for the purpose of establishing a common understanding of
   requirements and the as-built product. As necessary, support Business
   Analysts in defining business/user requirements and performing business
   modeling.

*Other Responsibilities:*

   - Perform reverse-engineering of existing software code into system
   requirements.
   - Provide authoritative understanding of the systems intended structure
   and behavior to support user experience designers, solution architects,
   database designers, and test designers.
   - Serve as the development team representative during user acceptance
   testing (UAT) for the purpose of clarifying the intended functional behavior
   of the software.
   - Manage requirements using the organization standard requirements
   management software tool. Define requirements attributes describing
   meta-data for each requirement in the tool database.  Populate and maintain
   the attributes over the life-cycle of the requirement.
   - Produce metrics which provide management insight into the requirements
   process, to include, status, size, volatility, quality, effort, etc.
   - Manage requirements traceability to include development of requirements
   traceability matrices.
   - Support requirements triage to select the right requirements to include
   in a specific software release.  Activities would include identification of
   relationships and dependencies between requirements, and estimation of
   technical effort.
   - Manage changes to baselined requirements through effective application
   of change control processes and tools.  Analyze SCRs for impact of change,
   etc. Support CCB meetings. Track requirements status throughout the project.
   - At the end of each iteration or release, produce a lessons learned
   report which summarizes the effectiveness and efficiency of the requirements
   practices and resources employed on the project.

*Education/Experience Requirements:*

   - B.S. in related technical field, such as computer science, information
   systems, engineering, mathematics, science.  Masters degree and related
   certifications desired.
   - Minimum of eight years of related experience.
   - Demonstrated expertise employing technical analysis practices, such as,
   objected oriented analysis and design methodologies; Unified Modeling
   Language (UML); modeling and requirements management tools; process
   frameworks, such as, the Rational Unified Process, Microsoft Solution
   Framework, and Agile methodologies.
   - Demonstrated expertise defining and coordinating the activities of
   small teams of professionals to successfully accomplish significant tasks.
   - Some programming and development experience desired.

*Working Conditions:*

Work is normally performed in an office environment.  Occasional travel may
be required.
