Here are the details: *LOCATION : Redwood City CA DURATION : Contract (1 year) or Fulltime.* *Role: QA Engineer Functional Testing* *Job Summary* In this role, you will be responsible for developing automated tests and testing SSN software. You will work with QA, development (software, hardware) and operations team members to create automated tests, test processes, test specifications, and test cases for integration, regression and performance. *Essential Functions* § The software QA engineer plays a critical role in the development lifecycle of product offerings. Under supervision you will be: § Responsible for writing automated tests and performing manual testing. § Responsible for troubleshooting issues and helping debug software problems in Linux, JBoss, and Oracle. § Responsible for testing of Software and be involved through the full life cycle of development, including reviewing requirements, specifications and designs, test planning, test execution, debugging, verification and pilot deployments. § Responsible for installation and configuration of software, reporting and tracking of bugs, verifying fixes, updating regression test suites § The ideal candidate should have: § Thorough understanding and experience applying state-of-the-art software testing methods, strategies, concepts and tools. § Experience programming in UNIX shell script or a scripting language such as Perl. § Experience programming in Java and C/C++ in a UNIX environment is desirable. § Proven success in testing integrated hardware/software systems. § Hands-on experience with configuring and testing of devices and applications in a networked environment. § Experience with communications protocols such as TCP/IP a plus. § Experience in working with Network Management Systems (NMS), security protocols including SSL and IPSEC a plus. § Experience working with sniffers, protocol analyzers, tcpdump and tracers etc. a plus. *Qualifications:* § Requires 3+ years experience in testing enterprise software or network management system products. § Requires 2+ years writing test automation scripts or equivalent programming experience. Previous experience with Selenium is a plus. § Requires 1+ years hands-on development or white box testing experience with Java/J2EE, SOAP, XML & RDBMS (Oracle preferred) § Requires knowledge of SQL and ability to query database. § Knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols a plus.
