Job Description:
The purpose of the Information Security Analyst position is to carry out the
day to day functions involved in the Governance, Risk and Compliance
process. While the primary focus of this role is conducting information
security related risk assessments, other facets include handling exception
requests, conducting security awareness training, policy and standards
promulgation as well as escalating issues to Security Management when
necessary. Risk assessments take many forms including vendor, supplier and
partner risk assessments. They are accomplished by assessing the risk and
potential impacts of network, system, and application hardware and software
additions to BD or BD's designated third parties' IT baseline, or IT
management and operational changes, to their security, risk, and compliance
posture. Working within the Global Execution Framework ("GEF"), under the
direction of the manager and in consultation with other security analysts,
the security analyst will partner with the identified information /
application owners and other stakeholders to evaluate the risks and
potential impacts and document the risk assessment results per BD's risk
assessment process. The security analyst will use current policies,
standards, and baselines as the working references and will use applicable
ISO, HIPAA, PCI and SOX security standards when conducting assessments.
Education Required:
Bachelors degree in computer science / engineering or a related discipline
(master's degree a plus) and five to seven years of technical experience in
security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software
communications and network protocols or an equivalent combination of
education and work experience.
Excellent analytical ability, consultative and communication skills, strong
judgment and the ability to effectively work with client and IT management
and staff, vendors and consultants.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with demonstrated
ability to influence management
Strong interpersonal skills, with proven process orientation to influence
diverse stakeholders without direct authority
Expert knowledge of security technologies (e.g., firewall, audit and
intrusion detection, X.509)
Strong project management background (three years of experience as a project
leader or manager of technical projects)
Familiarity with HR and legal requirements for information security
Familiarity with e-business technology and security requirements
CISSP, CISM, CGEIT or comparable security designations preferred
