*Client:* Arch Insurance Location: Jersey city, NJ Duration: 6+ Months Contract Hire: Immediate hire Function: Senior Engineer and Tech Lead Summary: Primary responsibilities will be to analysis, design, develop and support Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence systems. The role of a senior data engineer includes responsibility for data analysis, performing reconciliations and testing, designing data validations & load procedures, optimizing databases, writing queries and stored procedures to support the application for Financial and Actuarial Reporting. Arch's data environment is built on SQL Server, Informatica, SSIS, Cognos and .NET. JOB FUNCTIONS: ? Understand the data strategy of Arch Insurance Group and development of application using SQL Server tools. ? Build and manage data quality applications, perform data analysis to resolve data quality issues. ? Perform data migrations and reconciliations in support of Data Warehouse projects. ? Define requirements, development, and test plans in support of the data initiatives of the business. ? Work with Business users to support their data needs and to improve the financial reporting process. EXPERIENCE: Candidate would be expected to have a BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field, and a minimum of 8 years of experience application development in data oriented projects (ie data warehouse, reporting, data integration/migration efforts). He/she should have solid hands-on development experience within SQLServer, .NET environment with exposure to Informatica and/or SSIS. Must be very proficient with writing/developing with SQL. Understanding of Insurance Financial and Actuarial Reporting is a big plus, ideally in Property & Casualty or Specialty insurance lines. In addition, most of the following is desired: · 5 years experience in the following areas : SQL development, data warehouse support, data analysis, application design and support in SQL Server environment. · Experience with very large databases and/or data warehousing, good knowledge of SQL ? Strong skills in SQL stored procedures, views, SSIS package development, etc. · Strong business acumens and solid business analysis skills with Insurance industry background. · Ability to effectively communicate with technical teams (developers, QA, infrastructure) and business analysts to implement applications, databases. · Excellent team player with a proven background of individual contribution. Strong track record in building strong relationships. · Knowledge of advanced mathematics or statistics is a plus. · Ability to work on multiple projects with a tight deadlines ? Results driven; Ability to work independently; Self-starter COMMUNICATION SKILLS: · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong listening skills ? Ability to effectively communicate business and technical information to audiences with varying backgrounds ? Ability to communicate with offshore teams and technical development teams ? Ability to interact with management in a professional manner PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: · Collaborate with personnel from many departments to resolve issues ?
