See http://owfs.org/index.php?page=voltage-measurement You'll need an offset, but many of the "current" sensors measure voltage in that range. With a 1.25V offset, the DS2438 would be a great choice. It will measure +-0.25V with .25mV resolution. The MAX6018 http://www.maxim-ic.com/datasheet/inde

I use DS18S20's to control a solar heating setup, sensors in the panels and on the pipework, all read by owfs into a python program. The program uses X10 to drive the outputs to pumps and valve, but I am currently changing over to use 1-wire outputs as well as I have had some trouble with X10.

The way the system works is it reads temperatures in the panel (outside) and on the top and bottom of the water tank. So for those I would need to use the built in sensors as it would be hard to access the spots to install new sensors. I could however use what you suggest to measure the temperature

Hi, I have the same setup with solar controller and analog temp sensors. But instead of tampering with that one i use ordinary ds18s20 (1wire digi temp) strapped to both the incoming and outgoing side of the solar heating system. The sensors seems to cope fine with the high temps. (had an incid

Thanks for all the suggestions. Since this needs to be connected to the solar installation controller primarily and the 1wire is just a reading mostly to satisfy curiosity, I'll have to figure out how to make both work. I can potentially open up the controller itself and see if I can tap into it's

I should add that the EDS product supports 4-wire RTD elements. These are less common (but more interference resistant). If you want a 3-wire RTD reader, contact them. They are probably waiting for that version until there is demonstrated interest. Paul Alfille On Sun, May 22, 2011 at 7:49 PM, P

Great news. Embedded Data Systems has a new RTD sensor that is supported (and tested) with OWFS. https://www.embeddeddatasystems.com/search.asp?keyword=rtd&search.x=0&search.y=0&search=GO They have a model with a relay as well. Paul Alfille On Sun, May 22, 2011 at 5:10 PM, Pedro Côrte-Real wro

You cannot connect an RTD sensor to two amplifiers.  I would believe the easiest way to connect an RTD to 1 wire is using a RTD transmitter (see ebay).  They are about $20.00 and run from 12-24VDC & provide 4-20ma signal proportional to the tempertaure.  Placing a 250ohm resistor in series with the

I have a water heating solar panel installation that has several platinum resistance thermometers. Has anyone read these using 1wire parts? They are connected to the control box of the installation. Would it even be safe to connect another reader to it. I'm assuming that any resistance meters would
