I planed to include the files_streamer video player in ownCloud 4.5
https://github.com/owncloud/apps/tree/master/files_streamer
The idea is that a nice html5 player opens if you click on a video file.
Unfortunately I just noticed that it is using JWPlayer which is non free
software. :-(

and by the looks also, mediaelement.js seems to be the best library
