This is a bit of a nostalgic ramble but may be of interest SO pleased the National Women's Media Centre has been mentioned. For some time I was their International Coordinator and represented the group at the 1995 Women's Conference in Beijing both at the NGO and UN levels.

I am confused by this discussion so hoping for some clarification! My understanding of the results of the HOOP trial was that it favoured the use of Hands On - a finding that the midwives in the UK were surprised by. I had read summaries that clearer pointed out an improvement in perineal
