Dear Ozmid listers
I am taking a liberty to forward a request for help I recieved but I can do little about now I back in WA

As from Friday 19th december, a decision was enforced to stop all primips birthing their babies at Camden Maternity unit. This included primips going through the Birth Centre. All primips have been classified as high risk, therefore requiring the "safety" of Campbelltown Hospital. Multips are continuing at present to birth at Camden, this will currently be reviewed in the next 2 weeks. Birth Centre primips are now being diverted to Campbelltown without their known midwives being available for their births.
The plans for the Birth Centre are unclear to me as yet, however I feel it will be relocated to the Campbelltown Delivery Suite where it will be allocated a room. I see this as unacceptable.
It is clear that the women of Macarthur have no choice in regards to maternity services. Camden has operated as a small low risk unit with excellent outcomes. The families that have birthed at Camden have expressed great satisfaction with the facilites and the care.
If Campbelltown is to be the only option for women than I believe it needs to offer a team midwifery model of care and a free standing Birth Centre on its campus.
I am seeking your assistance in rallying consumer support for these services.

I any one can help
let me know and I will put you in contact with the auther of this request
Thank you
