My e-mail protection has now picked up 2 mails sent
to the list as virus's. Please all exercise caution and do not open any
attachments.

The file is not detected by antivirus systems because it is apparently a
conventional windows file and deleting it will damage your file manager (or
something similar). Sorry to report... Wonder if it will now be necessary
to reinstall?

Yes it is a haox, and very often by carrying out the instructions in this sort of message, you will delete files that are necessary for the operation of your computer.
