Just to add my bit to this.
I have just spent 2 lovely nights at a B&B with my 2 oldest girlfriends. I left my
three young boys in the capable hands of their dad and grandparents, just took the
bump inside me that we will finally meet in the next month.
We were able to have a conversation that lasted for hours which wasn't interupted by
"mum", amzing what it can do for you.
Anyhow, upon mentioning that my "good" husband gets up to the oldest 2 boys through
the night, I was told how lucky I was. Nevermind that I am responsible for our
co-sleeping, non-sleeping, 2+ year old.
I don't think I am lucky, I think our boys are lucky that their dad cares about them
enough to be there for them when they need someone. Our children have 2 parents not 1
and both do what they can to support them and each other.
I get fed up with defending myself against how lucky I am to have a good husband, he
is every bit responsible for his family as I am. I have no desire to protect him from
family life only to resent him for "not being there" in years to come.

Amazing how quickly three boys can make a restful weekend away a distant memory in
just a couple of hours,
gotta love 'em though,

Megan
