I'm now using ParaView v3.12.0 on Mac OS X 10.7.3.
Input model is solved by Finite Volume Method (CFD) solver.
When we visualize flow vector, we can use Glyph command.
There are some options in "Scale Mode".
But I don't understand the meaning of "vector" and "vector_components".

this mode, the glyph (the arrow) would be scaled according to the vector

vector_components uses 1 component of the vector to scale. Currently
it only uses 0th component (i.e. X component). I believe the panel is
missing a widget to pick other components.

I'm using other visualization tools (EnSight etc.) and those
'Vector Components' option may have additional [X, Y, Z] selector.
So I wondered why Paraview's vector_components option doesn't have
such an additional selector.

It;s indeed just an oversight, with no real reason for it being
missing. As you noted, the use-case is so uncommon that no one has
noticed it since 3.0!
