What platform is this on? In general, yes, if you're planning to use
MPI, you're better of building from source but that doesn't explain
the "unstable" aspect of things. What exactly is happening?

has been an issue for me, it`s pretty unstable and crashes often
If i build paraview from source with mpi support, it will be better in that
