I am also still seeing the signal 10 error on darwin, for example:

I am inclined to believe that this is a GC bug that is perhaps only
being triggered on darwin, perhaps due to differences with Apple's
gcc
Yet another reason to document them as is. But I guess we shouldn't
deprecate them yet.

I'm not sure it's anything. But it has changed recently -- roughly since
the time the announcements about the new cert went out -- so I kind of
suspect that maybe someone "cleaned up" some settings while they were in
the config files.
