Hi Bruce. Well that's all right. Thanks for all your help. I really
appreciate it. I'll have to look at all the options, and decide where to
go from there.

Then you'll need to find someone wiser than I. I don't know anything about
burning an MPG file to a DVD for the purposes of watching it on a home DVD
player. All I know is how to extract the audio from the file and do it
that way.

Hi Bruce. Thanks much for all your help. If I get DVD burning software,

I do usually reset it each time I use it to give it a new start and end
time of recording. I don't think playing other files while it's recording
should make a difference but since I've never done that I can't really
comment.

For DJC or anyone who uses Mediarecorder, do you know if it needs to be

Gary! Just open the file in Sound Forge and under File click Save As.
Here is where you can save the file as an MP3.

Hi Bruce. Thanks again for that. I'm not really concerned about loyalty to
the Soundforge product. I just thought that if Goldwave had a solution to my
problem, that Soundforge should. Just more to think about.

Yes. Essentially you go into preferences in Winamp, go to plugins, output
plugins, and then choose the disk writer plugin. Somewhere there you'll be
asked for a filename. I've never used this plugin as it jsut seems like
too much of a bother. What you then do is run the MPG file, wait for it to
Hi Gary,
As someone else has pointed out, you do need the MP3 plug in but I think you
can save about ten MP3 files before you have to make the purchase in order
to continue using the facility.
Don't know about that separate file you mentioned.
Good luck.
Robert.

By using the demo of Gold Wave for your purposes, you're not showing any
disloyalty to Sound Forge, if that's what's worrying you. You install the
demo, convert your files, then you can delete the demo. It's really the
fastest and most complete solution to your problem. And it's also the

If you have Sound Forge you can open these files from
the file menu. I seem to believe that SF 7 would also extract sound from
.mpg files.
BT SF 8 will definitely do so.
Cheers

Hi Bruce. I'll try that Soundforge solution, and get back to the list; but
how can I get that disk-writer plug-in. Is it a part of the Winamp 5.08
program? Thanks, again. I really do appreciate all your help.

Hi Bruce. I'm sorry if my tone sounded severe in my last email. I really
do appreciate all your suggestions. I just have to figure out which ones I
might want to apply. Goldwave sounds like a great program, but I got
Soundforge a few years ago for $99.00. At that time, it was a bargain,
