and BookCourier, trying to decide which one to buy. To me, it seems
these units are virtually identical, except for the price. So I

Hi. Here are some thoughts regarding these two devices:
1. Book Port plays books from RFB&D, Book Courier does not.
2. Bok Port is a little more complicated. On the flip side, Book
Port has capabilities to process text that Courier does not have.
3. Book Port is well supported by America

Is there a way I can take an mp3 karaoke file, pump it through Goldwave,
Sing over the music, and save the whole kit and caboodle as a ".wav" file?
And, if so, how would I go about doing it? (the mp3 file is on my hard
drive.

I don't know what a "mp3 karaoke file," is. But if you are talking about
opening an mp3 file in GoldWave and placing another sound source on top of
it and saving it as a wav file, then the answer is yes.
Below, you will see a section of tutorial, written by a guy called John
Wilson.
I'm not a good judge of sound quality, as I have never trained my ear
to be too discriminating, but I believe the quality is good.

rewritable ones as they can be as good as an external hard drive. I see the
need of bothering with mp3 and such lossy formats going away as these get

It says the unit is small, but could you possibly give the measurements to
give me a better idea?
It says it can read plain txt files that you load onto the unit. Is the
voice included with the unit a good soundin

it will stutter, you don't need to know how long you've recorded via
sf anyway, it just makes your pc work harder than normal. I had

I'd get myself a Sony ICD-MX20 or an Olympus WS-320M. The Sony has a
better built-in microphone, the Olympus uses a standard Windows format
(WMA). One can increase the playback speed of the Sony up to 100 %.

not too much more and get a fairly big

After more testing, I think there may be a bug when trying to convert large
files to MP3.
I got it to work with a small WMA file and also had luck with a small RM
file.
Those I'm not having success with are RM files of about two hours duration.
