I hope that I don't sound too pedantic, but the second HI-MD generation
recorders start with the letters MZ-RH. So you can upload with MZ-NH and
MZ-RH, but not with MZ-N or MZ-R.

You can't upload with a NETMD machine. This is only possible with HI-MD

recording from an MD once. However with 3.2, one can upload as often as
