select the device via a sub menu of the view menu. Then I select all
via the edit menu or by pressing Ctrl-a. Then I select something like
"Copy to library" from the extras menu.

Which version of Sonic Stage are you using? There is now a version 3.4.
In general, none of the versions seems easy to use.
I think another poster to this list, Michael Lang, has had some luck in
using Sonic Stage.
As an alternative, you can use Real Player+ to transfer tracks to a Sony
player.
