I'm not using a laptop. But on my desktop machine with Windows XP, I have an Audigy 2 and I really like it. For one thing it is a 24-bit card and the voice recordings I've done with it have no background noise to speak of. I have the Soundblaster Live Value card on an older machine withWin98 and when I voice record with it, there's a gravelly sound that I don't like at all. In all fairness, I really don't know whether that sound is coming from the card itself or something in the system. But in any case I think you'll like the Audigy 2. Lois
