Hi, Ted. In the diags folder, there is a speech test application. You might
use that to see if you can test one of the viavoice voices. I have seen
people trash their sapi four. JfW still works because they do something
different, but no sapi four voice works.

Gary! You certainly can use Naturally Speaking with JAWS. It would be
very difficult to set it up however without the help of J-Say. J-Say is
JAWS scripts and more that make Naturally Speaking usable by JAWS users.
Read all about J-Say at www.chirpingbat.com/j-say.shtml

I realise that sound defaults can be changed in the way you describe.
However what I described is a Window-eyes feature when selecting ViaVoice as
a software synthesiser.

Andrea! I can sell Via Voice to you but I've never used it. There are
several versions. Naturally Speaking is really what everyone is using. The
most popular is Naturally Speaking Preferred for $199.00. I don't know what
you are saying about switching sound cards. Whatever sound card you
s, but I use it to
convert text files to MP3.

It appears that using Viavoice with the ECI option (whatever that is) allow
the user to choose another soundcard from the system default
