I should know this but it's early, so hopefully someone can clear the fog in
my brain .
I was trying to figure out what if anything I can do to increase my mic
volume in a chat room. In going into the volume controls for SB Live, I'm
not seeing anything for microphone under playback,

Thank you for helping me with this. What confused me was that somehow I had
missed that list of controls under the playback properties, but I did as you
said and now see the microphone control right where you said it would be. I
assume that the recording setting for the mic is what is impor
