Are you using the latest version of PCA on the client and on the proxy? People sometimes use very old versions of PCA as pca_proxy.cgi. Oops. Indeed my proxy seemed to be hanging back at version 20110329-01. I've updated it to 20111018-01. I've also added update=auto to the pca-proxy.conf file
