This is a little late, so you may not want to get into it, but I once hacked firmata a little, so that it could read an encoder. I'll attach it.Collin

Congratulations, Joao! That's a nice piece of work, and I will use it
the next time I need to work up Messiaen Quatuor pour la fin du

it too!

I haven't done much video, but I have the same set up you have, and
the iSight just works, with [pdp_ieee1394] in example patches. The
iSight is on the firewire bus, I guess. oops, it just crashed! Have fun!

You should credit your performers, though; your cellist is very fine!

That is so cool, I will surely use it! Peaks at 45% on my 300MHz g3 ibook (ubuntu,) so 1-2% on a 21st century machine sounds reasonable.

a similar device (UA-101) which is USB 2.0 and is more money for some

feel better about having two devices, including one crappy one.

didn't work. Just a hunch! I'd try hiding it all in a sub
patch, and if that works, you could use something like [speedlim] (from
cyclone?) to limit the refresh rate on the atoms.

Here's my pd version of your solution. I don't predict the pitch
center of the oscillation will be perceived much differently than if
you offset a sine wave, but let me know!
