I think your best bet is to try the get-audio-dialog technique of
storing the settings in your patch. In the Help Browser, check out
hcs -> get-audio-dialog-help.pd
IOhannes has a 'mediasettings' library in the works, which looks like
it'll be the best way yet by far.

In Pd-extended, check out:
Help -> Browser -> hcs -> get-audio-dialog-help.pd
You can use that to grab the settings from the Audio dialog and embed
them in the patch.
