Besides following Derek's instructions, if what you want is to change pd
colors aiming for a more confortable canvas look while programming, you
can take a look into the pd.tk file. In my Xubuntu version it is found
in the folder /usr/lib/pd/bin
Once inside there (edit pd.tk as a text file) scro
Hello Meino,
Right or CTL click any GUI element, and you will see the properties
which you can use to change sizes, colors, etc. For a colored
background, use the Put menu to place a canvas on the screen and change
it's size and color. PD remembers the order in which things are placed

Hi,
Happy New Year ! :)
this is my first post to this list and I am also
right at the beginning to explore PureData.
I want to use PureData as a synthesizer for sounds
and I will not use the midi interface, since I have
no keyboard...
I am using a up-to-date Gentoo-Linux with linux

Pd shows the jack audio option under Media, and the dialog box comes
up, but it never shows up in jack control and when I pull down the
Media menu again it isn't selected.
I think this means that pd can't see jack. Whenever it happens to me
it's because I accidentally ran one of them as root a
I'm back to this. For various reasons, I've had to reinstall Linux
numerous times on two different laptops. I'm trying once again to get
pd to recognize jack.
I have the libjack dev package installed, the xserver-xorg dev files,
tcl and tk devs, and gcc.
# ./configure --enable-alsa --enable-jac

Try forcing it during configure with --enable-jack
Thanks, that finally did it, that and installing as root.

also it's confusing if you are using the autobuild. the accompanying
install.txt is about compiling but gives no hint where to put the thing.

Also, maybe jack has to be running to be detected during configure? I
can't remember.

So I untar this gz file and cd to the src directory. I follow the
instructions, and pd installs to /home/chuckk/pd-0.40.0-2. If I first
move the whole folder to /usr/local, I can't configure it as non-root.
Isn't installation supposed to default to some /usr/.. folder, or is
that only if I insta
