A pair of R-CR-V3's worked very well but, freshly charged, they could
deliver 7.4V which apparently fried the camera electronics in some
cases. This led to the Pentax warning. Nevertheless, many 1stD & K100D
owners still used them successfully without incident. A workaround was a

That place is still looking good. It's been 15 years since I passed by

John, I was wrong, I checked my records and the camera that used that part
was the SF1.

In the 90s someone went so far as to create a Z1-p battery grip that was only
that - a power source with no controls that allowed the use of AA
rechargeables. It was only ever a prototype, though.

It would have had to have been 4 AA batteries.
Are you sure it was the PZ-1/PZ-1p? The 2CR5 battery is shorter than AA
batteries. I don't see how AA batteries would fit into the battery compartment.

I had a Pentax part that was a replacement 'end cap', replacing the original
battery cover, that allowed me to use 3 or 4 'AA' (not sure if it used 3 or
4 )batteries. The 'AA' batteries didn't give the life of the 2CR5 battery
but I could always find 'AA' batteries.

I think not. The wheel is in bad shape. The wheel was rebuilt, IIRC
about 1939, but it now needs another rebuild - there is a fundraising
board at the site for the rebuild.

Thanks, Rick, Larry, Cotty, Dan, Jack & anyone else who had a look. The

Indeed they are. I've only been there in Autumn when they look quite
different.

Thanks Alan. In summer, in this part of the Pacific Northwet there is
only about a 70% chance of overcast skies at night, in winter it's about
