Hope it works ou.
I bought an iMac 27 Retina 4K in 2015. I think I paid about 3K. Still working
well, still fast enough for Photoshop and anything else I’d want to do. With a
second Dell monitor it makes a nice work station

I'm afraid that the longer I live, the more I seem to expand.
Thanks to PG my home Linux box got fried, I bought

I was looking into this not too long ago, data rates on NVME are a lot higher
than SATA.
A quick
Amazon has a 2 tb Seagate for 110 bucks and a 5tb for 2 something. I think
they’re internal SATAs, but cases are only about ten bucks.

I realized that I was asking the wrong question. An external NVME SSD over
USB-C would give me much better performance, and I really only need access to
the large drives when rummaging through my full archive, rather than my working
files.
The SSD would be quieter and faster than spinny

I've tried it, about a year ago, and to me it's something like the

I've been using OWC's Mercury Elite Pro drive enclosures for many years, one
per drive. Not one has failed or had any problems at all, and they're as quiet
as your drives are.

When I got a trashcan mac I also got an OWC thunderbolt 2 external drive bay to
go with it. Unfortunately, not only is it a bit loud, but when I use it as
thunderbolt rather than USB it has a tendency to disconnect from my mac, so
that I'm constantly getting warnings about missing drives etc.

Certainly not. But after you've legally bought one and paid the full
price, they won't take it away from you if you don't keep paying year
after year. Besides, an
