I don't want to build a new desktop system, but unfortunately after cleaning out the fans and blowing the dust out of the nooks and crannies then reseating the video card, the machine get's halfway through postup and hangs if it gets that far at all. I really need a workstation that will at least run Windows7, Professional.

Might get by with a good cleaning inside the case ... vacuum out the
fins on the heat sink real good. Maybe replace the cooling fan. Get the
dust off of all the other components. I managed to keep my old desktop
(the one I use for general internet) in service for a good number of
years that way. It'll save you some money if it works.

Unless you WANT to build a new desktop system.

My desktop started becoming very flaky, which upon testing all my hard
drives I attributed to one of the external drives beginning to fail. No
such luck, apparently the CPU was giving up the ghost. Oh well. I
guess I'll just have to take this as a golden opportunity to build a new
desktop. Meanwhile to have a convenient place to work I've decided to
load an email client on my work laptop. Now I've only got to load the
other tools onto this machine, assuming the connection to the PDML works.
