Phillipe,

I have this lens, (assuming we are talking the same model). Mine is an SP
lens dating back to about 1980. Mine close focuses to 1:2.5 which is very
close for a zoom lens. Mine has excellent build quality and is in pristine
shape. As to optical qualities, it is reasonably sharp throughout its
focal range, and also is pretty decent up close. The only thing I don't
like about it is, it has a rather pronounced colour cast compared to my
Pentax lenses. Even in 4 X 6 prints, there is a yellow bias to the
picture. I would say for a 1980 vintage zoom lens it would have been an
excellent lens. I wish the build quality this lens was seen more often in
today's lenses. I bought the lens mainly because of the Adaptall mount as
I have both a K mount camera and a screw mount camera. I also have a
Tokina 35-70 f2.8 ATX lens, which I use more often, as it is slightly
sharper, and has nicer colour.
