Fred,
HIE is High Speed Infrared film. Very nice to shoot but very difficult
(for me) to work with especially if you don't have a dark (really dark)
room to load/unload the camera.

An ME II winder for the ME Super plus a 50mm lens.
Well perhaps not as exciting as your toys but nonetheless still exciting to

Happy shooting.

I've had the A-1 longer but I really like the feel and handling of the ME

too without the winder so I can take discrete shots.

Hello all,
I want to ask the group what their experience is with this type of lens. I
know it makes for a good portrait lens with its medium telephoto range but
what else can you use it for? Any of you use this lens for something other
than portraits?
Also, is $95 a good price for it at 10-

The only thing I hate is when the negatives turn out really bad because of
operator error (camera operator - me).
Other than that it's still exciting for me since I am just starting out
also. I learned from my mistakes too like setting
camera ISO to 50 and then mistakingly processing the film
A similar incident happened to me. Won an auction for a camera in Germany.
Spent $120 to bring a $75 to the US.
Never again.

I plan on finishing up with my infrared assignment. My first roll didn't
turn out so well. Perhaps an advice from the group is needed. I am using
a Pentax ME Super (just bought it) with Kodak HIE infrared film. The
negatives came out really dense (dark). You can hardly see through them

I have a lens similar to this (200mm/f3.5) but it's adapter is for a Canon
FD. Do you fellas know where I can buy the adapter to fit a Pentax
k-mount? I'd like to use this on my Pentax equipment.
Thanks.

Thanks to all who responded. I can see that techniques vary greatly. The
bottom line is that I have to be careful next time in loading the film and
to make sure that the film really catches on the spool before closing the
camera back.

Hi guys,
What is the best way to avoid film from releasing it's grip on the take up
spool?
I loaded infrared film for our photo class project and was happily walking
around a park taking pictures when I noticed that the film rewind knob
wasn't rotating. I had already shot about 10 or 11 frames

Thank you for all your responses.
I can clearly see that each camera model has it's own set of afficionados.
This will make it even more difficult to choose.
Regardless of what I will choose though I know that I will get a high
quality camera body with an excellent selection of lenses.

I think the question can also be phrased Why not Pentax?
Solid, dependable, high quality, simple to use, robust are some words that
can be used to describe a pentax system.
Just pick up any pentax camera and you'll know Why Pentax!
