The recent Nikon announcement of a 70-200 f/2.8
AF-S/VR "G" lens makes me furious. No more apeture
ring! How can they do that. Nikon is going backwards
technologically. What a shame.
I am switching to Pentax which is not going backwards.

On my next trip to New Orleans I wish to carry my ZX/5
and, if I get it for Christmas) a MZ-S body. I will
bring a 28-105 zoom, 20-35mm zoom, and a 70-300mm
zoom. I will also bring a small flash unit, polarizer
for each lens, a table top tripod with ballhead and
about 6 rolls of film.

For what it is worth the newest version of this lens
has three APO elements compared to one in the SD
version. That's probably why it is rated highly. I
noticed that it is rated higher than the Nikon 70-300
by PopPhoto and PhotoDo.
