645/645N Rear Converter "Huh?" Question

I was just looking over some of the latest changes to the Pentax site and noticed that they had a page up just for the rear converters and I'm coming away with a big "huh?" factor. I guess that I'm a bit stumped about "why" and "why not" and that probably comes from me doing 35mm for so long,
