Best way to convert to BW using PS Elements v2.0 or Microsoft Digital Image Pro v7.0?

Hi all, I don't have Photosop yet. I have been working with PS Elements and Microsoft Digital Image Pro v7.0. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to convert istD images into BW? Maybe Pentax's software is better? TIA for any ideas, I really appreciate it!
