Clever ways of storing and carrying light stands, tripods etc?

I'm cleaning up after photographing a friend's party last night. As often happens, when it came time to leave, things got "put away" in a manner much closer to expediency than organization. This means that I have to pretty much unpack everything, and put it away where it belongs. The good news

Cardboard poster tubes for umbrellas and soft boxes (assuming that your soft boxes pull apart like mine do). Unfortunately I don't have a good idea for stands or tripods. Paul Ewins Melbourne, Australia On 18/09/2011, at 3:54 PM, Larry Colen wrote: > I'm cleaning up after photographing a frie

Velcro strap pairs connected by some webbing can tote several stands at a time until the velcro gets too dirty to hold well. For more stability a safety, a 3 foot dowel or 2x2 with a handle and four velcro straps will carry 3 or 4 light stands. Cardboard tubes, one for each umbrella, strapped t

Before I got an extra large duffel bag from a camping store, I used to steal the bags that our folding chairs live in, so your idea is sound and has been proven in the field, Jeffrey. They are good for one stand and umbrella plus a few doodads. They come with a great shoulder handle and tie ea

If only life was so simple, Tim. If you have even light falling equally on both subject and background, the fastest glass will not find contrast to lift your subject from the background and give the image life. So you can either darken your background or add light to your subject, and the lat

Agreed, but the painter's drop cloths I was thinking about aren't very heavy. I've made slipcovers out of them before on my machine without a problem. All of which begs the question of whether it would be a worthwhile endeavor in the first place, though. Might be better to go with a heavier-duty
