I think there it is still a long way to go for Pentax to improve their image. This can't be done with the release of just one camera. It is their long-term system support (or lack of) that has damaged their image. But I think, the *ist D is a step towards the right direction. The crucial point is if they can keep up the momentum. I do not think that they can increase the market share with any product perceived as more or less exotic by a majority of customers. It's the contrary.
