It always surprises me how poorly this lens performs in terms of crispness of focus. Everything always comes out blurry unless I stop down severely. ...and then I remember the focus-adjust feature. I haven't done that for this lens on the K5 yet. -10 points (!!) of correction later, it seems

Charles, Pentax 50mm f1.7 lenses have been sharp since the screwmount Takumar days. The phrase could be 'Tak Sharp.' I've never seen a bad sample, so you had other problems. Glad you got them sorted! (For those of you reading along at home, buy this lens used - its common and cheap.) Regards, Bob

My 1.7 is my sharpest lens. I have an M 1.4 that is close, but not quite as sharp. At F8 its pretty hard to tell the difference between them. The bokeh on the 1.4 is of course much better though. On Tue, Nov 19, 2013 at 1:48 PM, Bob Sullivan rf.sulli...@gmail.com wrote: Charles, Pentax 50mm

A friend offers me a F 50mm f/1.7 (95% new) for my Z-1P. Do you know the reasonable price of this lens? What is the difference between F and FA mounts? Does this lens have same quality with FA 50/1.7? Please advise! Thanks! - Åwªï¨Ï¥ÎHongKong.com¶l

I'd say that the F 50mm f/1.7 is as good as the FA 50mm f/1.7 and maybe just a little bit better, if you can believe some lens testers, like Photodo for one. How much is your friend asking for it? Len --- -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent

It is a really good lens. I was very lucky and I paid $40 dollars for mine (secondhand, of course). It is in what I'd say excellent+ condition. But the price for this lens would be in the region of $100 or a bit more, if it is near mint.
