In Sweden, the list price of the FA 24-90 is 7800:- SEK. As a comparision, the Nikon AF Nikkor 24-85 f/2,8-4 cost 7900:-. (only 1/2 f-stop faster at 24mm). In a recent test by the swedish magazine FOTO, the Nikkor didn't do so well. Sharpness and mechanical construction was very good, but the distorsion (bended curves) was high. "The main drawback of this lens is the high distorsion, something that's not unusal with this optical length." I believe that the more advanced optical construction in the Pentax (with low dispersion elements) gives it a higher performance. Street price here is around 6600-6800 SEK.
