With the FA/100 can't remember using the limiter, always focusing
manually when shooting closeups and as a telephoto I havene't
experienced any flare issues as the front element is so deeply
recessed in the body of the lens.

I use it all the time on mine but that's because I tend to use it as a
general purpose 100mm lens. If the AF gets lost the limiter becomes
quite handy.

I have the DFA 100 and like it a lot; I don't find the build too weak
- mind you, macro lenses don't get banged around as much as DA* zooms
which are built to take some abuse and AF hunting on the K10D is an
issue only in low light so I am OK with not having a limiter plus I
can prefocus manually
I think I have only once used the limiter on the FA so I'm unlikely to
miss the feature.
My 100 Macro is probably my most abused lens. 95% of pictures taken
with it have the front element inches away from salt water (I tried
the DFA 50 for a while but the working distance is just not enough and

Mmm, writing that maybe I should be shopping for a second FA rather
than considering a DFA.
There is one on eBay Germany about every other month and usually in
very good condition. They go around €330 to 380. Hope that helps.

Leon,
I've purchased a DFA100/2.8 this year, after seeing Mark Cassino using one.
I like the image quality in comparison to the A100/2.8 Marco.
I've not noticed any drop in quality.
The lens is lighter and the autofocus with touch-up is a blessing.
The focusing accuracy with the K-7 is sharp.

and light.
My question to any who have experience
Optical formula is different, as is rendering (coulours slightly
different), thanks to Tokina deisgn (yep DFA100 is a Tokina).
For what I could read the DFA100 is as good as the FA/F100 so Tokina
or not.. I wouldn't care at all.
DFA will bring QuickShift but plastic construction (and less weight).
