HI Ann -
Thanks for looking!
I think Stan has come up with some good resources. I tried Zerene
Stacker and CombineZP, but when I learned that Photoshop had stacking
tools built in I just used it. I did not know what I was doing when I
tried Zerene Stacker, so I can't voice an opinion on it. C
Thanks, Stan! A critical difference with the first shot is that there
was some actual empty space between the dragonfly and the background.
The ones perches on grass, especially the orange male, had grass stalks
all very close to them.
I very much overshoot - I just put the K-3 onto fast conti

It would be nice to learn how to stack - I have same questions as stan -
and how do you put them together afterwards?
Is there a manual for this?

Nicely done!
I prefer the lighting, the darker (and more out of focus) background in the
first one, but the other two work as well.
Did you overshoot, and then decide later how many images to combine, how many
to leave out? Or could you see the DOF effect well enough while shooting?
And are yo

Thanks, Dan! I seldom take macro shots with the lens wide open, but this
experiment seems to have worked out.

Wow! Incredibly sharp and wonderful detail in each image.
The OoF background makes the sharply focused insects stand out in 3D
fashion. The effect is strong and effective.

Stack focusing not so much to get more DOF but rather to get a
controlled and very shallow DOF when the background is close and
cluttered... C&C welcome.
