I'm wondering if there isn't some rebellion or loophole leaping still
going on in the world of big camera retailers with regard to Pentax's
new lens price policy:

Yes, I think it has always been thus... I have been accustomed to
looking for that "current price" or 'see price in cart" link. I think
maybe the difference now might have to do with the DA vs FA lenses...
seems like the FA lenses (somebody mentioned the relative deal on the
FA 31 vs the DA 16-50
They could be selling old stock remaining in inventory at the old
prices. The new agreement probably doesn't allow them to advertise
anything other than the current price.
These types of price advertising agreements have been around for years.
