When I first got my starkistdee, I tested several lenses on it at about
28-31 mm: FA 20-35, Tokina AT-X AF Pro 28-80 f2.8; FA 31; and F 17-28.
My subjective impression was that the FA 20-35 won the day for image
quality on this limited test.
That said, it's zoom range is ultimately too narrow

Could you go into a little more detail concerning your test of the
FA 20-35/4 and the F 17-28 fisheye? Those are two lenses I have been
considering for my *istD.
I have used the Fisheye zoom on film cameras so would be interested to
know if it performed about on par with your previous film
I've been conducting many lens tests on my ist-Dwhich is now easier with digital!
One clear conclusion is that the Pentax 20-35/4 lens is perfect for the ist-D. I
cannot find a lens in it's range (zoom or prime) which beats it.period. I think
getting the cheaper FAJ or the new ist-D
