Is the exposure between them really the same? Due to the central
mirror obstruction, many catadioptric lenses have reduced true speed
compared to a refractive lens, unlike the f/number w

You say you use your 600/8 with a 1.7x converter. Is that combo as
difficult to focus as it may seem?
Surprisingly, not at all, provided of course the weather isn't too bad. I
still can't figure out why the Novoflex (even with converter) is easier to
focus than m

Sure it does, Dr Z. Lots of food for thought. And the link you have
provided are just what I wanted to see to evaluate the possibilities of
such kind of lenses.

I used to have an acquaintance, (I'd hesitate to call him a friend), at
College, (University to those outside the US), who used to wander around

Hi Carlos.
I had an Novoflex 400/5,6, i think the version is called T2 (2 lenses
inside). That version was quite sharp, at lesast in the middle, if you
also compare with the price. For me it´s a better lens than comparable
Tokina SD 400 and Sigma. A great solution for me
Thank you for your comments, Herb. As I have written in other message in
this thread, the Sigma AF I had was low in contrast and high in flare,

I have used the Pentax F 1.7x converter with the 300 mm.,

Herb, how do you find the performance of these on the D?
Thanks,

As some people around here are much more knowledgeable than me about
long lenses, I would like to know their thoughts about the performance
of the follow focus tele lenses made by Novoflex. I have only used a
Sigma 400 5.6 AF, which I sold to a list member years ago, and the
excellent F* 300 mm
